Misinformation and how it impacts people

Misinformation is false information that is spread, regardless of intent to mislead and annoy others.

The spread of misinformation happens often in our everyday lives. We human being’s news flash are not perfect. We can all make mistakes. We all forget things. We mishear or misremember details. We tell our friends something we heard on TV or saw on social media that was not true. If you are spreading around information that is wrong, but you do not know it is wrong, then you are, well, technically, spreading misinformation.

There’s plenty of examples of misinformation hurting our communities but the main one affecting us in our own communities such as the new anti vax movement which has plague the lesser educated people and narrow-minded adults and parents ignoring the millions of lives that were lost to polio chicken pox and many other diseases that we as humans worked together to eradicate. Another example is the small percent of people that believe covid is not a big deal now obviously it is a small amount just like anti Vaxxers but we must consider that both spread preventable diseases for no other reason than ignorance and convenience.

Misinformation has never affected me, but my uncle was told that his pickup truck on some forum that it could take gas and diesel and he ruined the engine and motor and got a 4000 dollar fine from the company because he used an unreliable online source.

Just to not take information from places that are known to use ironic jokes and posts like allot of online forums will have paragraph long posts on something about ac units saying that say something like extra virgin olive oil is not olive oil is just avocado oil loaded with fake facts and well thought and articulated lies meant to misconstrue your perception of something so simple.
