My Digital Footprint

  • What is a digital footprint and why is it important to you?

It is what I post and put on my social media accounts, what you do, where you go on the internet/ digital platforms. It is important to me because it is mine – it is who I am it is my story, what I do and is personal.

  • How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.

Posting something somewhere inappropriate somewhere can be hurtful to possibly getting a job. Future employers may not interview you. Once it is on the internet is the property of the internet and can be found.

Possibly not getting into a post secondary institution – may not take you in because they don’t identify with certain types of behaviour.

  • How can you demonstrate digital integrity online?

Post appropriate things – think before I post – visit legit websites – stay away dodgey places.

  • Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
  1. Be in control of what is posted by me or by others. Make sure if I am tagged that I gave permission for it to be posted
  2. Not to post valuable / expensive things might give predators the wrong impression of you.
  3. Don’t post your location – or your personal information – keep it clean.
