Disinformation is false or misleading information, purposely spread to deceive. Disinformation tends to harmfully impact a community. It can be confusing and affect the world around you. Fake news can impact your grades, health and make it hard for people to see the truth. When I was in fifth grade, we were doing a research project on European explorers, and one of the partnerships chose Christopher Columbus. At the end of their presentation, they said that after he discovered America, he went to Disney land to celebrate. Although this was funny, it is a good example on how there is a lot of fake news on the internet, and you need to use critical thinking and lots more research to check if it is reliable.  To help with the awareness of disinformation, I can help by making sure classmates know which sources to find their information is most reliable and when they do find disinformation, to report it, or let others know, so people get the right facts.
