- What is a digital footprint and why is it important to you?
Digital means to navigate online and the footprint tells people where you have been and what you have posted or even seen. I need to make sure that I am as safe as possible in this digital world and that my information is sensitive and could be used against me to hurt my reputation.
- How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.
If I have a negative digital footprint it could potentially hurt my job opportunities as employers do digital reference checks.
If I have a clean digital footprint it might help me get jobs but also entrance into schools.
- How can you demonstrate digital integrity online?
I can keep all my private information safe by not posting anything about it. Like my address, identification, SIN, by not posting expensive things. I can also choose to not engage in text messages or threads that might confuse the readers.
- Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.
- Not post sensitive information online
- Make sure I lock my account down and have only the people I want in that account
- I would ask people not to post photos of me online and if they do ask that they take it down
- Prior to having people take a photo make sure they ask if it is cool post.
