1) Meaningful Quote:

“Play to Win” – Shawn Nouraei (my dad)

Coming from a family of sports and always being active, I’ve grown up being competitive. Being a  sprinter has taught me that everything I do counts every practice, every warmup, and every millisecond. That said, “play to win” is a motto I carry with me everywhere. Every time I’m tired and want to quit I remind myself of those words and how becoming a champion is playing to win, and not giving up.

2) Embedded Video:

I chose this video because the woman in it is Tara Self, my track & field coach. I have known her for 7 years of my life and she has taught me what perseverance and strength truly is.  This video inspires me because the young gentleman made it to the Olympics and he had ran with the Coquitlam Cheetahs Track & Field Club (the team I run with). This video inspires me that I can reach my goals if I put in the work. It motivates me to establish goals for myself and to never give up.

The Ghost Of Flo Jo Hangs Over Women's Sprinting In The Olympics

Florence Griffith Joyner, AKA Flo-Jo. World time record holder for women’s 100m dash with a time of 10.49. Growing up in the track world, with my father being a sprinter, I  was introduced to Flo-Jo when I was five years old. I was taken by awe when I first watched her world record race, I looked up to her and she later became my hero. Although at the end of her career rumours were spread of her dark path, nothing changed for me in the vision of how I saw this incredible woman. In my eyes, she is beautiful and incredibly talented. When I think of track & field I think of her and I am reminded of how anyone can achieve their dreams. Therefore, I chose this photo because it is a constant reminder of the love I have for my sport and what inspires me to do it.

4) Create a Hyperlink:

The Olympic’s  have always been an important factor in my life. I picked this hyperlink because it corresponds to my love of all sports. It reminds me of all the successful athletes that have made it to the Olympics and reminds me that I can one day too! Since I was eight years old watching the Olympics with my dad was a tradition and I always remember spending hours cheering on my favourite athletes and teams from behind the screen while gobbling down buckets of popcorn!
