Drafting 9

September 2023

This was my first sticker that I printed. It was supposed to be the flag of Japan because I wanted to start with something basic so it would be hard for me to mess up, but I still managed to make the center circle weird.

This is my one point perspective drawing. I tried to do something similar to the example, but I still made some mistakes.

This is my two point perspective drawing, I made my own drawing this time to be a bit more creative. This time I did a better job following the rules, but still nothing spectacular.

This is my three point perspective drawing I used some help for the middle tower from an online source. There are two office buildings and a donut shop. I didn’t add a lot of texture and this was the first time I tried to add shading.

For our final drawing project we had to write steam and our name on a grid sheet to make the weighting 3D and it also put the letters on an angle and I tried to add a bit of shading this time and the project took me longer than what it should have.

This is my keychain project from the laser box. I used it to make a key chain for my favorite basketball team the Boston Celtics.

This project made us create a 3D biome with paper and use the sticker cutter or draw our own animals/plants to fill the biome with. All of my animals are made with the sticker cutter. I made a ocean biome.

For this project we got to use Fusion 360 and Tinkercad to create a boat design that could hold the most pennies and it had to be under 10 grams. My boat weighed 5.27 grams and could hold 16 pennies.

Passion Project

Introduction:

I built a model combustion engine, and electric motor and am working on a model of a Maglev train. I have been researching how engines work and how electromagnetism works.

Challenges:

When making the combustion engine model part of the engine broke because I did not screw it on tight enough. This happened two times, making me take apart the entire engine and put it back together.

When trying to make a model of a maglev train, I found out that I had the wrong materials to make the train. I needed to put magnets at both ends of the battery and sent it through a copper tube that I had to make by spooling some copper wire. This did not end up working because I bought magnets that were too big. I may try this part again in STEAM 10.

Conclusion:

In the end my passion project worked the entire time! A lot of people had a really good time learning about how my Homopolar motors worked. (a battery magnet and copper wire.) My most popular attraction that was a part of my project was my engine model. People really liked seeing how an engine worked.

What I Learned:

I learned that doing big projects are really easy to do alone. I also got to learn the full inner workings of how a combustion engine worked. I also got to learn and make Homopolar motors. They are really fun to make and learn how they work.
