Trebuchet Instructible

This is my instructible for the Ping Pong Trebuchet.

This video showcases a trebuchet test. I created a testing environment using a measuring tape and a grid pattern aligned with the x and y axes of the trebuchet arm. The setup allowed me to measure the distance my trebuchet could throw the ball and to analyze the ball’s flight path more effectively in the video.

I conducted experiments by varying the following settings:

  • The position of the trebuchet on the floor
  • The alignment of the arm and axle relative to:
    (a) the payload
    (b) the counterbalancing mass
  • The amount of mass on the trebuchet arm
  • The release point of the ball

This recording captures the maximum distance I achieved: 9 feet and 2 inches.
