1. Complete your Web Development 10 Page

  • By now you should have created a Web Development 10 Page with the following details:
    • Add details about yourself by using the following guiding questions (create a list using Notepad or Microsoft Word):
      • Bio – Facts about you – Try using any of the following to describe a bit about yourself. Use whatever you feel comfortable sharing but try to understand how connecting with your readers is important, so sharing information to help build connections helps your reader understand where you are coming from.
        • elementary and middle school you went to or where you were before Terry Fox, where you grew up, how many languages you speak, activities or hobbies you enjoy, clubs at school you are a part of, describe your family, what kind of animals you like, if you have a job, your favourite food, movies, etc.
      • Random thoughts, quotes, or famous people that inspire you
      • Add images using http://unsplash.com/ or http://www.pexels.com/ that reflect your interests
    • Try playing around with the WordPress functions for the page – see what you can add and manipulate! For now, try to avoid the use of plugins – we’ll get there!
    • Be prepared to share what you did so the class can learn from you about how you were able to change/create something.
    • Added from yesterday:
      • Create a hyperlink to the Student Websites of Web Development 10 (can be found somewhere on Mr. Chastkavich’s page)
      • Embed a YouTube video onto your page
      • Embed a document onto the page (Microsoft Word/Excel/PDF)
    • New from today
      • Ensure the Web Development 10 Page is added to your main menu
      • Playing with ‘Appearance > Customize
          • Depending on your Theme, you will have varying things you can change and alter
          • Try something with CSS in the additional CSS section
          • Add a widget of your choice to your website – see if you can make it visible on your Web Development 10 page (understanding the difference between your entire site/blog vs a single page)
          • Utilize the Text Editor on the editing page (tab found beside “visual”) and add a comment (Remember the HTML code for a comment is: <!-- WRITE CONTENT HERE --> )
          • In Customize you can edit your menus and see a live change before publishing/updating your site. Ensure that your Web Development Page is on your menu. You can also find menus when you hover over the Appearance tab on the left.
