Passion Project 2024
Welcome to me and Owens passion project journey, a mix of creativity and chaos
Why i chose this project
Have you ever had an idea that just wouldn’t leave your mind? That was me when I thought of doing my water filtration system I’ve always been interested in filters and how they turn our dirty natural waters into clean drinking water
and I wanted to use this project as a way to explore that curiosity. I chose this project because it felt challenging, fun, and something I could really put my own twist on.
I wanted to create something that people could learn from—or at least find cool. This wasn’t just a school assignment for me; it was a chance to prove to myself that I could stick with something, even when it got tough.
The process and progress
The first time we tried to make a filter , it completely failed. But every time something went wrong, I learned something new. Slowly but surely, I made progress. not only was the pH off but the water was still murky and tasted like it would kill you, and it probably would of. slowly learning about how bacteria is killed through materials like activated charcoal and learning about what substances change pH and how to use chlorine etc. helped us to perfect our craft and get our final filter after 2 prototypes.
The final result
The end result worked really well not only did the pH stay neutral but the water was crystal clear and was safe to drink i wish our filter could’ve been more eye-catching but I am pretty proud of it. on the day of the steam fair it felt good to finally say, “yea we built that” and have people actually interested in our project image. this is our poster board:
what I learned:
This project taught me that success isn’t just about the final product—it’s about the effort, the problem-solving, and the growth along the way. If I were to do it again, I’d definitely build our filter out of better material and make it look better, but I’m proud of what I created.
Thanks for following my journey. I hope it inspires you to start your own project, no matter how big or small.
