Hyde Creek Boat Race
My team forgot to take any pictures, so I stole this image of our group member Ethan (at the bottom) from someone’s page.
At Hyde Creek, we had to engineer and put together a makeshift boat with cardboard and 2 kinds of tape. Not much emphasis on the engineering part, we just winged it and made a pointy rectangle shape. After cobbling together our mummified by tape magnum opus, pizza time. The pizza was nice after a few hours of hard work, but now we had to race. Our biggest blunder was probably putting a heavy group member on the boat, and you could see the boat already folding before the race started. We didn’t do the worst though even with the boat constantly spinning. It managed to get to the finish line but sunk shortly after. It was funny watching some boats flop to the pool floor as soon as someone got in. I would say this has been our best field trip so far. No wonder they haven’t made us do a page about the Science World trip. After that, we were packing up and ready to go home when me and my friend got a side quest from a dude that works there. It involved chucking rolls of cardboard into an impossibly positioned dumpster from a story high. Finally, we were let go and that was that. Hyde Creek boat race is approved.
