Data Visuals Assignment
- I chose a visual showing how much and which metals were mined in 2022. I chose it because I am interested in learning exactly what metals are used in our daily lives and how dependent we are on them.

- This visual is a variation of a bar graph, but uses 3D models to help visualize the amounts.
- The visualization shows that iron is the most commonly mined metal by a large amount, with 2.6 billion. Some other commonly mined metals include aluminum with 69 million, chromium with 45 million, copper with 22 million, and manganese with 20 million. It also shows non-industrial metals mined, such as tin with 310 thousand, rare Earth oxides with 300 thousand, and Molybdenum with 250 thousand.
- The information given shows the approximate amount of metal mined in 2022, utilizing 3D models made up of blocks with textures that look like the element it’s representing.
- This visualization caught my eye because of the models used to represent metals being visually appealing.
- I feel comfortable with extracting data from this visualization because it gets information across in an easily accessible way.
- The most outstanding part of this visualization were the textures of the models, as they are very accurate to the actual appearance of the metal each model represents.
- This data could be used to help mining industries as a guide for how much of each metal should be mined each year to meet demands.
Bean Plant Growth
Something I accomplished from this assignment is that I learned how to effectively track growth using a graph and collecting data. Something I learned is that it is important you take every chance possible to gather as much data as you can to get the most accurate judgement.
This is a slideshow of the growth of my bean plants.
