ABOUT ME

Hello, I am Ibrahim. I live in Vancouver, Canada, but I’m originally from Iraq. I went to Blakeburn Elementary School and Minnekhada Middle School before Terry Fox Secondary. I like playing and watching Soccer.

 

TERRY FOX SECONDARY

At Terry Fox Secondary, we have something called a Character in Action program which focuses on 4 pillars. These 4 pillars are: Perseverance, Kindness/Compassion, Integrity and Leadership. The first pillar is Perseverance which is a continued effort to do or achieve something even though it may be difficult or take a long time. The second pillar is Kindness/Compassion. Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous or considerate without expecting anything in return. Compassion means being concerned of the feelings or sufferings of others. Integrity means the quality of being honest and having moral rules for yourself. Leadership means having the courage to lead a group of people or organization. The pillar that I feel is most meaningful to me is Perseverance because I like the meaning of having to keep on trying no matter the difficulties that come up to you.

The person I feel most represents this pillar is Cristiano Ronaldo.

I chose Cristiano Ronaldo to represent Perseverance because no matter what challenges stand in his way, he always finds way to win trophies with his teams. And no matter how old he gets, he still plays at the same level. Usually, players score most of their goals in their careers in their 20s, and Ronaldo had scored 440 goals in his 20s which is already an amazing number, but when he got older, he improved even more. He scored 442 goals in his 30s. He has scored 905 goals in his career, the most by any player in history and he currently has the goal to become the first player to score 1,000 goals in their professional career. And whenever Ronaldo has a goal, he always somehow achieves it so I think he will be able to get to 1,000 goals.

This is a video of Cristiano Ronaldo talking about how his motivation and perseverance helps him become a better player. I chose this video because it feels like a perfect example of perseverance.

The website that I chose is meaningful to me is BBC but specifically the football (soccer) part of the website. This is meaningful to me because I love watching soccer and this has been the number one website I go to when I want to look at soccer news

 

How I demonstrate the Terry Fox Pillars 

 

I use perseverance in my everyday life because as a student we use perseverance to finish assignments, study for tests, and understand hard or complex subjects. Perseverance helps us want and need to study and complete assignments in school. 

 

I use kindness and compassion in my everyday life by doing simple things like complimenting others for nice things they do, also by saying thank you which is expressing gratitude to others, and also by helping my friends if they don’t understand how to do something.

 

I use integrity in my everyday life by being honest to my friends and family, making the right choices even when no one is watching and by respecting rules set by others.

I use leadership in my everyday life by doing the right things, setting an example to others and by encouraging or helping others with school work.
