During my trip to Belcarra, I had the opportunity to experience and learn many interesting things about nature and the local environment. One of the first activities we did was explore the surrounding wilderness. As we walked through the trails, I observed a variety of plants and tried to identify them. It was fascinating to see how many different types of plants grow in the area and how each one has a unique purpose.
Another highlight of the trip was going down to the shore to catch crabs. I learned how to safely pick them up, observe them closely, and then return them carefully back to the water. This hands-on activity helped me better understand the importance of respecting wildlife and treating all creatures gently.
I also learned a lot about the traditional uses of plants by Indigenous peoples in the Belcarra area. For example, I found out that the woolly sunflower was often used as a natural remedy. It was commonly used to treat minor wounds, reduce inflammation, or as a general healing tonic. Learning how nature was used for food and medicine in the past made me appreciate how deeply connected people were to the land.
