- I chose Internet usage as my topic because I use the internet and liked to know how many people had access to it in the world. Visualizing Internet Usage by Global Region (visualcapitalist.com)
- The website uses pie graphs and percentages to show the data.
- The graph shows how even though the internet has been here for a while there are still people who don’t have it. Places like Africa and the middle east don’t have as much access to internet compared to American, European, and Asian countries.
- The information that the graphs show are the amount of people using the internet in that region. It shows the percentage of people with the internet in each area and a global average.
- The visualization showed me some information that caught my eye like how African and middle eastern countries have less people on the internet which I think is unfair because of their position.
- I feel comfortable to extract data from the graphs as I can use the percentages to make a bar or line graph of some sort to graph data that could show how many people in each region had internet compared to the others.
- The most interesting part of this visualization was how they got the information as it must have took a long time to gather this information from across the whole world.
- This data could be used for research on places with more access to internet and to others. This could help people see the problem of how people in the middle east and Africa don’t have as much access to the internet and do something about it. This information could be relevant in the future as it could show how the internet had advanced throughout the world and more people getting to access it.
Bean Growth Assignment:
This graph (above) was made using data that we had recorded over the month on our bean plants. We each had 2 beans with one of mine growing more than the other. During this time we took pictures and recorded our data by plotting on a graph and than converting it into Excel. I had learn some new things from this assignment like how to use and make graphs in Excel. I also learned a lot about beans and how they grow very tall in a short timespan. This assignment also helped me understand how slopes and linear relations worked which was a more confusing unit for me. I was happy how my beans turned out as they grew pretty tall and I was able to get my pictures and data for my graphs.
Bean Growth Slideshow:
This is slideshow of the pictures that I had taken over the course of the month. It was taken on a regular basis and shows the growth of my two beans over the month.
