Drafting 9

Cricut Project:

Picture:

Stickers:i
-Uno Reverse Card ( I like playing Uno)
-My Ingested Chemical Logo (from our science class)
-Turtles ( it’s our cohort)
-My name (Leesel)

What I found challenging:
Finding and making the right shape for my design because I tried looking for a free picture that can fit my shape. So, I tried making one, but it sometimes does not look too good.

What I found easy:
Separating each part of the photo each piece by piece on Cricut like how I did with my science logo.

What I Want to Do for My Next Cricut Project:
I want to create something with layers that have different colors. Like how there’s this premium version on Cricut but I want to try and replicate that for free.

3D Printed Balloon Powered Cars:

What We Did:
In drafting we had to make 3d printed cars that were powered by balloons. First we had to follow a tutorial and printed that one out, that was my first version. My first version did not move at all. Then we had to be in partners, me and my friend had to make a second car. I edited the first version, by making the hole bigger and make the car thinner. It moved quite far with an average of 12.5m. But we wanted to make a third car so we made a whole new car from scratch, and it did not move. (lol)

Cardboard Boat Race:

The process we went through to create our boat:

First we had to draw the boat template on the cardboard. It was a triangle top and bottom at the body was a rectangle. Leaving extra cardboard at the side to fold and create walls.  [Shape: <=>] Since the drawing on the cardboard is now finish we can start cutting and taping it, leaving the unfinish product to become: *[Pic#1] As we continue to tape we the shape. We now add support for the base and for the sides. We added more tape around the boat to make it waterproof but we forgot to do the inside.

*[Pic#1]                                                                    [Pic#2]

Factors that contributed to the success or failure of our race:

Adding supports was a great idea by adding extra cardboard to the base which added more stability with bars:*[Pic#2] Ensuring our cardboard boat is waterproof and reinforced with tape that’s how our boat stayed dried. Well-designed, and balanced with a low center of gravity by making the person paddling stay in the middle. Picking out our paddler was the most important for our race, so we chose the fastest swimmer amongst our group.

What we could improve about our boat design:

So when we went to outside to officially race, we became 3rd place and I saw a few reasons why. First of all at the end of the race the boat was filled with water and wet, so we forgot to waterproof the inside which made the boat fall apart. Second the as I said with the first reason the boat is falling apart, some people to fix that problem to double layer the boats. Next time were were doing double layers because they are really sturdy.

How the paddler affect our race:

Our paddler is a swimmer so he is really good in the water so we chose him to be the paddler. If were talking about his movements he typically moves side-to-side affecting the boat’s balance. As he shifted his weight, the boat became less steady. Also the proper weight distribution and a low center of gravity helped keep the boat stable and perform better.

(our boat was completely destroyed lol :D)

Making The MMM sticker:

Since the MMM 2025 (March Mammal Madness) is here we decided to make a sticker based on a animal. The requirement are that we need to have 2025, an animal, and MMM for our sticker. I chose a seal that was balancing the 3 M’s and I put ‘2025’ in the seal. We had an option to put on a shirts, mug or on cardstock. I chose mine to be on cardstock.
