Math 9

We filled out an excel document for a grade 10 numeracy test that we will be doing next year. I would have liked a better explanation and a longer preparation of this test but overall I did well.

5b) Select one question out of the 12, that you find the most interesting.  Record your response. 5b) The most interesting question I found was question 6. I responded with the trees are all tapped so the season’s prices would be simular.
5c) Why did you choose that question to be the most interesting? 5c) I chose this question to be the most interesting, because all the other questions asked me about costs. This question asked me if the next season’s profit will increase if the production and sales stay the same, which was a similar, but also kind of different question in this section.
Go to Continue to student Choice Section (at the bottom of the question menu).  CLICK: I want to advance to the next screen. Picture

11) What is the last section of the exam, after question 26?  Why do you think they include this section on the test? 11) I think this last section is used to recieve input from how the students felt about the test to further improve it. It will show what parts the found difficult or easy.
After you finish navigating through the exam.  CLICK” I want to submit my assessment”.  CLICK next. Picture
12) In this sample exam, this is where you will find the results to your assessment.  How do you think you would do on the numeracy test, if you were to write it now? 12) If I were to write this test now with little to no studying I think I would recieve a mark from 30% – 40%. This shows me I need to study hard during the year to get a proper passing grade.
Take a look on the bottom of this excel sheet.  There are 3 more sheets you need to finish Part 1 of the assignment: Written Response Question, Marking Guide and 5 student samples(A-E).  Your task is to look at the question SOLAR ENERGY, look at the marking guide and then determine a mark from 0 to 4 for each of the student samples, along with your reasoning for that mark. Mark alone is not sufficient. Picture
13a) Mark for Student Sample A and your reasoning. 13a) This example is clear and shows work very well – 4/4
13b) Mark for Student Sample B and your reasoning. 13b) This example is less clear than the previous one – 2/4
13c) Mark for Student Sample C and your reasoning. 13c) This exmple is unclear and does not show his learning – 1/4
13d) Mark for Student Sample D and your reasoning. 13d) This example is simular to sample A – 4/4
13e) Mark for Student Sample E and your reasoning. 13e) He did not show his work very well – 1/4
14) Reflection;  Now that you have gone through  the Numeracy exam, what did you gain from the exposure?  What steps will you take to improve your preparation?
What strategies will you use to achieve a higher score?
What specific goals should you set to ensure success in next year’s Numeracy and Literacy exams?
14) A strategy I would use to recieve a higher mark would be to study every day atleast a week prior to the test. I would dedicate 1 hour per day to learn, review, and test myself.
