Hyde Creek Drafting Trip Reflection
For our drafting assignment, we went on a field trip to a pool called Hyde Creek. Before we started our activities, we had a pizza lunch with chips, which made the day even more fun. After that, we worked in groups to build boats out of different materials. The goal was to create a boat that could float and move across the water. We had to think carefully about the design, shape, and balance of the boat so it wouldn’t tip over.
Once our boats were ready, we tested them in the pool. We also had races to see which boats were the fastest. We did two races in total. It was exciting to see how each group’s boat performed, and we cheered each other on. Some boats worked really well, and others had trouble staying afloat—but it was fun either way.
This project helped me understand how important planning and teamwork are in building something that works. I also learned how small design changes can make a big difference. Overall, the trip was a great mix of learning, creativity, and fun.
This is a thaumatrope, a simple optical illusion toy. On one side, there is a soccer player, and on the other side, there is a ball. When you spin the stick, it looks like the player is kicking the ball. This happens because our eyes blend the two images together. It’s a fun and easy way to show motion using just drawings and spinning!
this is our boat competition it was really fun, we eat pizza with a cheeps and a drink. we got second place. our boat was also very big we used 2big card board to make it. over all we all enjoyed it and it was so much fun.
