Edward Csuka has always been interested in Science, Technology and Innovation. Inspired by his high school Biology teacher, who pioneered the Salmon Enhancement Project at Mossom Creek, Edward earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and a Master’s in Environmental Education at Simon Fraser University (SFU). Concurrently, he became a member of the British Columbia Inventors Society in 1996. Since 2002, Edward has taught Science, Math, Drafting/Design, and Entrepreneurship. In 2014, he was one of only 40 Physics teachers globally to be invited to the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario, for the Einstein Plus Workshop. In 2015, Edward pioneered a Robotics Club which, in 2018, earned his students the VEX Robotics Judges Choice Award. In 2017, Edward hosted the Power of Ideas event – led by the Perimeter Institute as part of the Canada 150 Project – at Terry Fox Secondary, which gave rise to the Terry Fox Innovation Society for inventive, innovative, and entrepreneurial students. In 2022, Edward received the Canadian Association of Physicists Award for Excellence in Teaching. Currently one of the Program Coordinators for the new STEAM Program at Terry Fox Secondary, Edward strives to prepare students with the 21st century skills to solve the complex problems of the future. Continuing to build on his passion for lifelong learning, Edward is embarking on his PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies for STEAM Education at SFU.
