Class Projects

For my first project I’m uploading here I made a Tetris 3D model that I did not have time to 3d print I did 3d print several smaller Tetris pieces as a test to see how big this one would be. A image will be included.

I also made a bunch of stickers For my computer and things around my house, I will include pictures.

We also made our 4 biomes island out of clay and a mountain in the middle.

I also 3d printed a box where I put little pieces of paper that went to a website I made where it talked about the conservation of salmon

I did do my drawings but i didnt get pictures in time to upload them to my website. I will see if I can upload them in the next few days. for my 1 points i made a desert scene with a cracked and old road going into the mountain range

Grade 10 Starts Here:

CLE Movie.
I created an about me video with PowerPoint and Shotcut which included music and facts/info about what I plan to do with my future.

CLE Project/Presentation for Profession.

We had to make a project and present it based around our main future job, and facts about the profession. Lots of research went into this project. The profession I chose was Urban Planning, or the making or design of cities.

.

This is a blueprint of a small river city, connected to a plant, in the top left is the plant to the left of the river, then to the right of the river is a small town and park(on the top right).

Perspective Drawings:

For my perspective drawings I don’t have images for as I forgot about the steam portfolio and lost them.

The Boat Races:

The races were really fun to do with the grade 9’s, from designing a boat with your group to actually making it in real life and seeing if your design could work out. Images will be attached soon.

Lit Launcher’s :

We got to design and test launchers to shoot small projectiles at a catcher or target, with the goal of getting the most projectile’s  in the catcher in a minute. Video Attached:

Gravity Car’s :

This project was made to test our design and creation skill’s, well competing in friendly competition. My group with Terrence and Sebastien got first place after improving our car several times.

For Out Final CLE Project we had to take 2 potential post-secondary schools and research them. Here are my results:

University of British Columbia vs. Northern Alberta Insitute of Technology – Which school is best for me?

Brendan LaPierre

Locations: UBC Vancouver Campus is on the outskirts of Vancouver City, and it also has a Campus in the Okanagan. The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology is in the heart of Edmonton city.

Number of students and diversity of population: UBC has 70,757 students, while NAIT has 36300 students only.

Housing options and costs: UBC has 14 houses all around 850$ to 1,500$ a month. NAIT has no housing options for students.

Popular Programs What Program/Degree/Diploma would you want to complete?: If I went to UBC I would take the Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urbanism 4 year honours coop program. If I went to NAIT I would take either the Landscape Architectural Technology course, or the Architectural Technology course.

UBC’s requirements are:

Graduation from high school

Minimum of 70% in Grade 11 or Grade 12 English (or their equivalents)

Any English Language Arts 11 or any English First Peoples 11

A language 11 or waiver (includes all second language courses, including all Indigenous languages of Canada, but excludes introductory Grade 11 language courses)

Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Mathematics 12

A Science 11

NAIT’s requirements are:

English 30-1 or English 30-2

Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 or Applied Math 30

Proof of English Language Proficiency

Ownership of a computer

Deadlines: UBC has a deadline to apply of January 15, 2024. NAIT’s deadline is Sep 01, 2024

Tuition costs: UBC has a tuition cost of $9,416.70 per term, or every session. NAIT will cost $2772 dollars a term.

Total budget to complete your education: I would need a budget of $40,000 to fully complete a bachelor’s degree at UBC. I would need a budget of roughly $15,000 to fully complete a landscape architectural diploma at NAIT.

Where to find more info: If I wanted to find more information about UBC I could go to  https://www.ubc.ca/about/ to find more about the school. If I wanted to find more information about NAIT I would go to their official help site https://www.nait.ca/nait/contact/help-support

Closing – UBC is a profound school that is well known for changing the way its students look at the world. I feel that if I managed to get into the program I could leave a true impact on this world, or at least the area I live. Despite having slightly harder entry requirements and the tuition being higher I feel I would benefit more in the long run, and with high employment rates after the 4 years I would have no problems fitting right into my new job. All in all I feel that UBC would be the best school to lead me onto the first stages of my adult life.
