All About Me

I am a student at terry fox secondary who enjoy creating and design, and learning more about how to making interesting or functional things. I like to be creative, but I tend to take criticism of my ideas very personally.

I think good education and equal start in life are very important. People are more likely to do well in life when they are actually given the opportunities to do so, such as learning useful skills from a younger age that can help people succeed in life. Some things that I find very personally important, like protecting the environment (such as old growth forests), learning more about the possibilities of large scientific research like space exploration, as well as what could be done to improve medical procedures to change people for the better, like prostheses and DNA modification. Water is very, very important, because without it, you would be quite dead. We should strive to provide all people with clean water and to maintain the environments we take it from, as to not drastically change any more ecosystems.

I occasionally enjoy walking in nature and looking at the plants and fungi, but I spend most of my time watching educational/entertaining videos (usually on YouTube) or staring at nothing and just thinking. I like to solve puzzles, such as sudoku, grid puzzles or do speed cubing, of which my record is 42 seconds on the 3×3 and 14 minutes on the 5×5. I am best motivated by competition, and love to learn more and advance my skills to try and get ahead of others (especially in math). When I am inspired I like to tell stories or scare people by writing, drawing or animating, the best of which I post to my YouTube channel. My favourite drawings are of skeletons, cats, and an evil sword possessed by centuries of killers, their eyes staring out from the blade, taunting you to join them, which I got the idea from by reading eyelash as ‘eyeslash’.

I am inspired by Nikola tesla and his inventions, and how he continued to create in the face of adversity. He created many things that were not always easily accepted in his time but vastly important to the world and helped us as a society evolve. I hope to be even slightly comparable to him in the future, and as I learn how to design working things in the next few years of school (drafting/TechEd). I hope to create things that will improve the lives of people around the world.

I have been working on learning about fingers, muscles, protheses and artificial muscles and for my passion project I am working on creating a finger that can be remotely controlled, and eventually I hope to build a complete hand that can be controlled using your nervous system.

STEAM is about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (click the logo for more information). STEAM provides learning through projects that incorporate at least a few of the subjects above at any given time, in ways closer to how they would be used together if you had a job in them (math is secretly everywhere, even in art). These projects also provide the opportunities for those who want to learn more about engineering and creating to work on their skills in hands on projects.

I joined steam because I wanted to actually learn how to create and design things that could be used, such as the steps in the design process and how to create things using different tools (cnc router, 3D printer, laser cutter, bandsaw, etc.). I also joined as I was excited at the prospect of honours and more advanced learning, as I spent middle school in the MACC program where all the work was advance above our grade level. I love learning math.
