Welcome readers.

My name is Paige, and I am a grade ten student at Terry Fox Secondary. I have a family of four. I live with my mom, dad, and little sister Amber. We have two pet dogs, a eight-year-old chocolate lab named Ruxin and a two-year-old black lab named Tilley. (Photo shows them.)

I absolutely love and adore them! When I was eight we got Ruxin for Christmas, and I was with my dad when we got Tilley. I was the first one to hold her so I have become very attached to her. She might just be a naught little puppy, but she is my puppy, and I love her!

As far as any one knows, we are a nice normal family. I love to be doing things, so I am normally in my room sewing or making cards. I even make iMovie’s and trailers, but I mostly do that at my family cabin, out in the forest. I am also an athlete; both in and out of school. I love to watch and play a wide variety of sports. In the fall and winter, I play school basketball, and outside of school I play soccer all year round, but I play other sports in my free time too. My team sports are very important to me and I can be very competitive and eager to win.

Sports are one thing but places are another! I love my family cabin; it is my grandpas and I love it up there. Its near One Hundred-mile House and is on Bridge Lake. In the Winter the lake freezes and I can walk on it, but in the Summer, that’s where I want to be.

The lake is the best to swim in during the hot weather, but in Fall the colors of the leaves, trees and lakes are gorgeous. My family vacations at the cabin are always filled with the most memorable adventures including quadding, tubing, hiking and fishing. My family is the most important thing in the world to me. We always say a quote I first heard from my mom “family first” which just means that family is the most important thing. My family is not just important, but they inspire me too! My mom always takes care of the whole family,  making the big fancy dinners, and cleaning, leaving very little time for herself. I want to be responsible, confident, and caring like her! And even though my dad is a total goofball, he has leadership and management skills, he is so smart he even built the cabin deck! I want to be like my dad went I am older. My parents are special to me and inspire me and I look up to them. They are spectacular parents!

Here at TFS I am part of the STEAM program, which stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. STEAM goes all year round and takes place during two blocks of your day leaving the other blocks for the other mandatory courses, such as English, socials, and PE. I chose to join STEAM because I was very interested in the subjects and projects included in the course. So far STEAM has been what I expected it to be and more! Halfway through term 1 and we have already done 3 big projects with presentations, and a few field trips. The assignments have been fun, and the teachers give us great criteria to help us understand the work. I am grateful to be part of STEAM and to be in these classes with these teachers. I’m excited to see what interesting projects will come next!

Keep calm and STEAM on!
