G9 Drafting Projects

My STEAM projects from Grade 9

Drafting projects:

Digital portfolio:

The drafting reflection includes all my contributions for all the drafting projects as well as my passion project. Due to the file being too large for the website, I have separated them into multiple parts.
Drafting video 1:

This video is about the nature collage project.

Drafting video 2:

I was unfortunately unable to upload a video for this one because even after cutting down as much s the video as possible, the file was still too big. A written description for the salmon project will be below.

Drafting video 3:

This video is about the energy project.

Drafting video 4:

Again, the file exceeded the size limit for the website. So the info will be in my personal passion project below.

Nature collage project:

I made the trees for this project. For more information, look at video 1.

Salmon project:

Salmon plaque:

The group salmon plaque took much longer than I anticipated and took me about 3 weeks to finally finish.

Main project:

Initially what was planned for it, was I was going to make it so it would be able to hold water. However, after finishing the salmon I realized I wouldn’t have the time to make it. So instead, I glued cardboard walls onto the sides of where the plexiglass was supposed to be in order to make the project look like it was intentionally supposed to look like the way it looks now.

Energy project:

I create an aluminum wind turbine. more info in video 3.

Personal passion project:

Brainstorming:

Initially I was going to make music in Minecraft or create a miniature battlefield, but after thinking a bit more on what I should do, I stumbled upon an idea that was not too overcomplicated and not too simple. So, I decided to create a tank using Autodesk inventor.

Currently:

Currently, all I have done is the hull, but next semester I will create the turret and the wheels as well as extra small details to go with the model. I will also be using the CNC router to create a small plate to put the tank on and create a small scenery.

Passion project 2.0:

I have realized that the tank idea was not a fantastic idea for a final project, so I have started a new passion project. for the new passion project I will make a 1 to 1 size single upright piano hammer. For the smaller parts I will use the 3D printer and for even smaller parts I will try to use the laser cutter. For the actual hammer and piano key, I will use a bandsaw in the tech-ed room to cut a piece of wood into those parts. Currently, I have finished designing the small parts in auto-desk inventor and plan to print them out real soon.

sustainable city project (Minecraft):

This is my groups plans for the Minecraft sustainable city project. We have already finished the city centre as well as the buildings around the city centre and the dam and farms. We are currently designing the other structures and plan to finish the entire top half of the city by spring break.

Minecraft Project (Update):

Below are some snap shots of the Minecraft world my group and I made for the sustainable city project.

Lego Mindstorm Sumo bot:

I constructed a lego mind storm sumo bot built only to attempt to flip other sumo bots. Below are a few pictures.
