Belcarra/təmtəmíxʷtən Journal Writing

On the , my STEAM class and I went on a field trip to Belcarra Regional Park. The following image shows the research and notes I took regarding our trip:

I used specialized water pencils to add colour to the images that I drew. I made notes about the details of the day and the activities that took place. I recorded down what I saw during the trip.

What Happened at Belcarra

When I got to Belcarra, we were divided into groups. I was put into Group C with some of my friends. We went on a nature walk initially. After twenty minutes, we had a lunch break. Afterwards, we went to the pier and caught some crabs. They were mostly female Dungeness crabs. Due to the fact that they were below the standard size and them being female, we could not bring them back with us to school. Thus, we gently placed them back into the water. After that, we assembled together and embarked on our trip back to school on the school bus.

Conclusion

I really liked learning about crabs and the Indigenous People’s relationship with nature. I hope my class and I get to go on another trip like this further into the year.
