Science 9

What me and my group are doing for our science project:

For the science project me and my group had planted beans to help remove the carbon dioxide in the air. Originally we had planned on planting Green bamboo sprouts as they grow way faster and they also remove more carbon dioxide, but in the end that did not work out so we planted beans instead. We originally planned on planting only 10 beans but some of them had died to mold so we planted a few more and in total we have planted 15 beans. When we first started we had almost no idea what to do, but after a day or two we got the hang of how much we needed to water them.

After ten days of checking on the beans and watering them three beans had been killed off,  and half of the beans started to grow roots and stems. For the beans that grew mold and died we threw them away and planted new ones and continued watering and caring for the beans. After the 19 days mark 8 beans had died in total. The shocking thing was that two beans had already grew past 80mm! We decided that the biggest bean would have to be planted in a pot for it to grow best, so we planted it and continued watering. Right now at day 29 no more beans have died and the two biggest beans have grown past 250mm!

The other beans are not looking too bad so we will wait to see if they will start growing better. That is the progress that me and my group have gotten over the past month of growing beans.

What we will do moving forward:

Moving forward me and my group will continue to water and care for the beans. We also have decided that we will no longer replace the beans that have died and see how many will survive in the end. We will also when the time comes when we can not care for them we decided that we will plant them. We will do this so that they can continue growing unless they die which then we will compost them. At the end of growing the beans we will calculate how much Co2 the plant have converted and see if it was an effective way to help remove the carbon dioxide in the air. That is what we will do moving forward.

My group and I have made a slideshow showcasing all of the things that we have done during the bean project from start to finish.
