About Me

A Meaningful Quote:
“You can waste your life drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them.” -Shonda Rhimes

This is a meaningful quote to me because I think it is important to set goals but I also think a part of setting goals is completing them too, no matter how crazy they are. In this quote the “lines” are like the goals you set. I think it is important to set crazy goals or else you will live a boring life and not get out of your comfort zone. Another part of this quote that is inspirational is the way it is worded it makes you change your fixed mindset of I can’t do that. To  more of an open mindset as if I take these steps I will slowly cross the line.

A time when I used this quote was when I set the goal of learning how to snowboard. At first I thought I would never learn how because my dad knew how to ski and at the time hadn’t skied in many years. And my mom had never learnt how to ski or snowboard. I thought this was a crazy goal for me to set but little did I know I would complete this goal. I did this by writing down this goal many years ago but it wasn’t until I joined my school’s ski and snowboard club that I started to cross the line. By joining this I had the opportunity to learn how to snowboard. As the lessons went on I slowly crossed the line on learning how to snowboard. Now I can snowboard quite well. I am not close to the end of the line because there is always room for improvement but at least I started to cross that line.

My Favourite Video:

This video is important to me because whenever I hear this song or watch this video I think about my auntie Jackie. More specifically the video auntie Michelle made to this song which was for my auntie Jackie. She made it to remind my aunt she was loved when she was going through a hard time battling a brain tumour. In the video my aunt created had friends and family who would hold up the word either “you”, “are”, or “loved” during the chorus. She then added some photos of my aunt when the chorus wasn’t playing. Here is a link to a shorter version of the video: Video . This video and the embedded video always makes me smile because it reminds me of how my aunt was a fighter, always had a smile on her face or was cracking jokes, and how she didn’t let her brain tumour stop her from living a great life. I get reminded of the little things she did to show her family that they were loved like calling us on our birthday and sending a card in the mail. While these things might not seem like much to you they meant a lot to me because I knew her brain tumour must have been hard on her memory, yet she would always remember my birthday. The message of the embedded video is also an important reminder that no matter what you are loved.

An Inspiring Picture:

This photo is inspirational to me because this is a photo of me and my grandpa. This photo is meaningful to me because it reminds me of how hard of a worker my grandpa was. It reminds me of the stories of how at one point in time he worked 4 jobs. He did this so that he could provide for his family and so that my grandma could be a stay at home mom. It wasn’t until he passed away that I truly saw how hard he worked after I watched my grandma deal with things like the farm and four plex all by herself. My grandpa also had the kindest heart and never got mad. Everyone in my family aspires to be like my grandpa because of how kind, smart, patient and hardworking he was. I am grateful for all that he did and all the sacrifices he had to make. I will always try to be as good of a person as he was.

This is a link that shares a bit about a local church who helps the vulnerable in our community during the harsh winters. At night they open the church to provide a warm place for the homeless to sleep in. They also have a food bank for them to access food, as well as a thrift store. This is also an important cause to me because in 2019 I did a passion project on helping the vulnerable people in Port Coquitlam. I reached out to the people at Trinity United Church and asked them how I could help. Me and a few others then had an ice tea sale where we raised money for the church. This money went toward a benevolent fund for those in the community who could really use the money. Some examples were a pair of work boots so they could get a job, money to feed their children or even to a new mom who could really use the money to support her family.
