(Elective Course: Open to Grades 11 – 12) Creative Writing 12 is an elective course that is designed to help you explore your unique voices through a variety of genres and contexts such as screenplays, podcasts, novels, and games. You will build on your ability to explore your personal and cultural identity, memories, and stories through the lens of genre fiction. Within a supportive and engaging workshop format, you will collaborate to develop your skills by means of oral storytelling, writing processes, and design processes. This course is grounded in the exploration and application of writing as process and invites you to further express themselves creatively as you continue to reflect on, adjust, and extend your writing skills.

English 12 asks you to extend the communication, thinking, and social skills you built in previous English courses. Through interacting with your classmates and a variety of different texts, you will refine your ability to communicate effectively and to think critically and creatively. You will explore and create original texts about identity, diverse perspectives, and our changing world. You will also contribute to Reconciliation by building greater understanding of the knowledge and perspectives of First Peoples.
