My name is Ethan. Some things to know about me are that I like to read, code, fix electronics, take things a part to see how they work, and build things.
The four pillars at our school are perseverance, kindness/compassion, integrity and leadership. Perseverance means to never give up no matter how hard things are. Kindness/compassion means to be friendly to people and to show sympathy for others. Integrity means to be honest to others. Leadership means to be a strong leader and know what do do when things get tough.
The pillar that is most important to me is perseverance. I chose this because I believe that more work gets done when people persevere when it gets hard and when there are tasks that they don’t like.
The person that I chose to represent perseverance is Terry Fox:
I chose Terry Fox because he never gave up when he ran to fight cancer despite having to have his entire right leg amputated because of cancer. He didn’t finish the run because his cancer came back, but this time in his lungs. If that hadn’t happened, he would have persevered and finished the run. He was born on July 28, 1958 and died from cancer on June 28, 1981.

Some facts about Terry Fox:
- He ran an average of 42 kilometers each day, totaling up to 5373 kilometers
- He had to stop his run on June 8, 1980 due to the cancer returning in his lungs
- He liked athletics from a young age. He was the track and field champion in high school and was the captain of his soccer team.

I think this website is motivational because it shows many facts about Terry’s life and has some motivational words and quotes in it that make me want to keep going.
When I reflect on the word perseverance, I think it is important so that people keep on going. One way that I show perseverance in my life is when school gets hard. I don’t give up on assignments and try them in many different ways.
