What is the Passion Project
The Passion Project is a project where kids from STEAM get to design & prototype their passion / ideas. The goal is to generate creativity and critical thinking skills whilst exploring and their interests.
Our Project
We innovated & designed 2 wooden ping-pong paddles using a lightweight and durable wood (bass wood). We gave each Ping-Pong paddle a design which is unique & personal to us both. We also designed a net by weaving it and attaching the weaved-net to two 3D printed stabilizers on each side of the table.
Paddles
To make our paddles we used many things, which include, 2x 3mm bass wood (put & glued two together to make it more comfortable in the hand and make the structural integrity better. We also designed the paddles using an application called AutoCad. By using this, we were able to send it to the lasercutter to cut out our paddles (each paddle took around 2 minutes to cut).We finished the paddles by wrapping them in hockey tape to give it better grip and provide superior aesthetics.
