A Bit About Me

My name is Brendan Haraguchi, and I was born in Richmond, BC, where I spent the first 3 years of my life living blissfully with my mother and father in a modest townhome. In these early years, I learned how to speak English, but also picked up a bit of Japanese due to my Japanese background, which helped my lightly communicate with my grandparents and family in Japan. Before I began attending Terry Fox, I previously attended Blakeburn Elementary, where I spent the first 6 years of my school life. After completing my grade 5 year, I started attending Minnekhada Middle for the next 3 years of my education. Outside of school, I enjoy playing baseball at a competitive level, which is a hobby I’ve been taking part in since I moved from Richmond to Port Coquitlam at the age of 3. Aside from baseball, my other hobbies consist of snowboarding and playing basketball, as I find both very activities very enjoyable and lively. Due to my interest in these hobbies, I plan on joining the ski & snowboard club when it becomes available, but aside from that club, I’m undecided on what other clubs I feel as though I should join. Playing baseball at a competitive level has its benefit aside from personal enjoyment as well, as it opens up job opportunities to at private clinics and practices that I am asked to coach. My family is nothing short of chaotic, being busy almost all the time due to both mine and my little brother’s schedules, as we both find ourselves playing baseball every day of the week for multiple hours throughout the day, creating tons of work that I heavily respect from my mother and father. As a family, we used to own a Yorkshire Terrier (Dog Breed), although she sadly passes in 2018. Aside from dogs, I also love cats, although I’m heavily allergic to almost all cat breeds and some dog breeds as well. Along with my favourite pets being dogs and cats, I absolutely love eating sushi and watching Karate Kid 1-3, as it has a sense of nostalgia every time I watch these movies.

“Baseball is like church. Many attend few understand.”

This quote by Leo Durocher inspires me because it’s very relatable, and I’ve seen people who don’t understand the true meaning of the sport baseball, which inspires me to do better because I am able to understand this sport that others can’t.

When Shohei Ohtani had been drafter by the Los Angeles Angels, I was overflowing with joy, seeing one of my favourite baseball players finally being drafter into the MLB. I have been watching Ohtani since he was playing in the Hokkaido Fighters, so to see him drafted was like a mini lifelong dream being accomplished, even if it didn’t benefit me in the slightest.

This was the first word document that was created on my OneDrive, and reading it over again after over 5 years floods me with a feeling of nostalgia, even if the grammar, storytelling and almost everything about it is terrible.

That concludes my student website. To view other websites from students in Web Development 10, click here
