My Digital Footprint

A digital footprint is the trail of information that netizens leave by using online features, such as history of websites visited, files downloaded, posts uploaded, and more.

A digital footprint is important because it can contain my personal information and affect my real life.

My future opportunities can be gone if I do not take control of my digital footprint. 10 students who had inappropriate posts on their social media were taken their admissions of Harvard University away.

Not only it can cancel your university admission, but also it can affect your career in bad ways. If you are sued for committing cyberbully, it would remain permanently on your personal record and be shown to companies you are applying.

To demonstrate your digital integrity, because you do not want that to happen in your life, you should think before you make comments or posts. Make sure that your digital footprint is appropriate and safe. It should not contain something hurtful, such as racism.
