Science 9 Honors Final Reflection
Final Reflection:
- Describe each activity you participated in (include pictures) – What did you do? What did you learn? What are you proud of achieving?
- What questions do you have about science that you would be interested in exploring in the future?
Activities:

DNA sheet with bead sequence
An assignment was the DNA lab sheet where we created a butterfly’s DNA sequence out of beads. I’m proud of myself for learning the DNA sequence and ATCG combination. This was fun because I got to choose the animal DNA I wanted and I worked with a partner.

Part of plant through a microscope (x400)
Another assignment I participated in was when we went into the lab room and we got look at cells and pieces of plants through a microscope. We learned how to use a microscope and see cells and plant supper close up. I was proud of myself because I was able to quickly learn and understand how to use the microscope and I was able to find the cells. I enjoyed doing this assignment with a partner.

One page of my drafting and calculations
At the beginning of the year, I participated in making ginger bread houses. We had to design a house with the largest area for jellybeans to go in side it. I did a lot of math for this project. I learned how to find the area foe a pentagon and the shape our house ended up in. I’m proud of myself for doing/ learning the math because math is a lot of work and I had to focus to get the right calculations.

Enoki mushroom
I also was part of the SSEP project where we were asked to come up with a experiment proposal that will help with future growth in space. I was in a group of four students and myself. Our proposal title is, effects of microgravity on the structure of fungus. The main concept of our proposal was based around Enoki mushrooms. We wanted to know how Enoki mushrooms would grow in space. We think this information can be helpful with future growth in space because Enoki mushrooms can be beneficial to decomposing as they are primary decomposers of animals and plants. Our Hypothesis is, Enoki mushrooms will grow taller and without specific direction when in an environment of low gravity. I learned a lot about Enoki mushrooms and I am proud of my effort in this project.
What questions do you have about science that you would be interested in exploring in the future?
I am interested in learning more about chemistry and _and looking through microscopes. Some questions I have are, what are the scientific laws that come into play when observing cells and anything that can reproduce? Also, when looking through a microscope, what are the differences between hair colors and types? Also, differences between fruit colored skin like the outside blue skin on a blueberry and the red layer on a strawberry?
