SSEP: Food Decompositions Experiment

The experiment for the SSEP Flight Experiment that our group decided was how quick food decomposed in space. The tube used for our experiment contained three columns of three different foods: a piece of apple and orange, a piece of whole grain bread, and a piece of ground beef (raw). The reason for the experiment was to see if it was possible to use decomposed food as fertilizer for crops in space. To see the the rate on how fast it would decompose on space, we would use another tube of the same types of foods on earth. To find if a change happened or not, we could measure the mass of the foods as decomposition releases CO2 therefore losing mass. After measuring, the food with the lighter mass would be confirmed to be the one that decomposed faster.
