Who am I?

I am Veerin Dhiman, but who is that? My first name means bravest of the brave in Sanskrit, and my last name is from a Hindu cast that worshipped the god Vishwakarma, who led that cast of craftsmen and engineers. I strive to be an innovator and work to be the best at everything I do. I have accomplished many things that have shaped my desire for innovation, the first of which was my induction into the gifted program. This helped me think in new and different ways to improve upon all that has come before me. The primary event that first taught me the engineering methodology was the Odyssey of the Mind Competition . After this, I took my passion for creating things into my hobbies by building my first computer, as shown in figure A1. The next project I took on was building a keyboard that went quite successfully as displayed in A2. The most recent thing that propelled me further into engineering is the Arduino and programming projects that I have done in STEAM. The vast amount of knowledge and skills I have gained from doing those projects is immense and relatively complex, as seen in A3.

What is important to me?

One of the most important activities in my personality is playing video games. The release of sitting back and exploring a virtual sandbox online is a form of relaxation that would be difficult to live without. In a more productive context, I have a high level of enjoyment playing guitar and piano. The act of playing and creating your own music is a productive and enjoyable activity that I will always make time for. I also have a strong desire to compete in soccer. Although I am not relatively as skilled or on a high-level team, I still enjoy being competitive with other similarly skilled teams, and playing soccer, in general, is an extremely fun activity. The final important thing that I highly enjoy is mountain biking. Some people that are extremely important to me include my entire family and many close friends that I may have.

Who or what inspires me?

There are many people who inspire me to be a more thoughtful, impactful person. One of which is John F Kennedy. His ideas and leadership qualities are ones to live by and follow in countless scenarios in life. His Speech (as displayed in B1) about the initiative to travel to the moon is regarded as one of the best speeches ever written. Another person who inspires me is Elon Musk. Although he may not be a specifically good person for the benefits of the less fortunate and towards other people, his work ethic and drive are unmatched. The way he took a small company and turned it into Space X and Tesla is an amazing feat that drives me to compete.

What is STEAM?

STEAM is an abbreviation for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. The purpose of STEAM is to incorporate all the subjects mentioned into an environment in which engineering is the priority. It encompasses project-based learning to use all aspects of each subject to create assignments that are relevant to the world and the program.

Why did you choose to explore STEAM?

I chose to explore STEAM because it heavily appeals to my interests and is related to my career aspirations for the future. The skills that can be learned within the STEAM program are extremely important and will benefit me for the rest of my life. Not only does it replace the unimportant and monotonous methodology of assignments with project-based projects, but it also helps to prepare us for our futures by teaching us how to efficiently complete tasks in a group. The amount of knowledge I have already gained from such a short time in STEAM is incredible, and I hope to continue my passion for engineering in the future.
