Citizen Astronomy with Unistellar

They want the community/citizens to be apart of their research. They want people to inform themselves and learn about hazardous objects in our solar system. 

3. Who are the researchers, what fields of science and engineering to they represent, and what do they provide?

The researchers are SETI Institute, they represent astrology and they provide Unistellar’s revolutionary digital telescope.

4. What is the role of the non-scientists/citizens in this project? 

They should learn more about potentially hazardous objects and protect humans from a devastating impact. They should use the digital telescope to find these objects to detect and help Unistellar with their research and discoveries.

5. What does your project monitor and how? (Hint: look for the “About” section, science section, blog section and/or similar pages of the project website to provide more detail on this.)  

They monitor asteroids and other potential hazardous objects. In order to get the most amount of data they made a digital telescope so the community can also help with these discoveries. This telescope will allow citizens get involved and so they can also learn more about these objects.

6. Why are the researchers monitoring it? In other words, what does the information they collect help them make more informed decisions about? (1-2 sentences)

This information will help many people and themselves in the future. This specific discovery is all about find hazardous objects from space to help identify and see if it will effect us on earth. They want the community to help them so they can have more data to detect potential dangers. 

7. How does this project benefit society? Say more than just that it provides knowledge. What practical purpose might it have? If the website does not give any hint, think about it and think of a way that it could possibly be used to benefit society. (2-3 sentences)

This project benefits society because this digital telescope can prevent dangerous objects from harming society. We can also help these researchers with their data for the future. The more people that contribute the safe we potentially can be.
